Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman: WTF?

In the latest episode of the bizarre saga of Joaquin Phoenix's rap "career", the (formerly?) brilliant actor made a complete ass of himself on Letterman tonight, and, as is usually the case, it was up on YouTube within fifteen minutes

Now, rumor has it that this is an elaborate hoax. If that's the case, Phoenix deserves an Oscar. But this is just fucking WEIRD.

Update: Here's the full 10 minute video

Woman in Brown assault case was Rihanna, reports TMZ

TMZ is reporting that the woman involved in the Chris Brown assault case was, in fact, Rihanna. At this point in time, it is unclear whether or not it was, in fact, assault with a deadly weapon.

Liveblogging the Grammys

8:00: U2 live
Arresting live as always, but "Get On Yer Boots" simply isn't that great of a song. And Bono looks fucking ancient.

8:08: I hate The Rock. What the fuck? Incredibly unfunny. Poor choice. Justin Timberlake's jokes are falling on their face too.

8:12: The Al Green Clusterfuck-- Clearly, the Grammys booked too many artists and weren't sure how to put them together.

8:23: So Chris Martin's douchebaggery is heinous enough, but did Jay-Z have to lower himself to that level?
Viva la Vida is a pathetic show of U2 wannabe bullshit.

8:42: FUCK YOU COLDPLAY. Song of the year my ass. In other news, who the fuck does Kid Rock think he is?

8:53: It's a dark, dark day when Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift perform together. Without the big rock backup, it's fully evident that Miley really can't fucking sing.

9:00 Holy shit, Jennifer Hudson can sing

9:10 Stevie Wonder backing up the Jonas Fuckers is nothing short of criminal.

9:22: Best line of the night goes to Craig Ferguson "I would have vomited on your shoes and stabbed you"

9:25 If Katy Perry is the future of music, you can shoot me know

9:27 "American Boy" on the other hand...

9:30 Best new artist goes to...NOT JONAS BROS.!!! Congrats, Adele!

9:42: M.I.A. looking insanely pregnant is best shot of the night. "Paper Planes" should've won, but fair play to Plant and Krauss

9:54 Swagga Like Us was easily one of the best Grammy performances EVER. T.I. was flowing like a crazy mothafucka--almost upstaging the other three. And M.I.A., as always, was unbelievable.

9:57: "I Saw Her Standing There" as hard rock? Okay...

10:20: Thom's hair is AWFUL, but that was SOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOL
Full tour with USC Trojans? I say YES.

10:38: Smokey is old. But he can still sing, and Ne-Yo and Jamie are great additions here. Too bad we only have one Four Top left...

10:50: Sweeeet Caroline! Neil Diamond never seemed so bad!

11:03 Lil Wayne and Allen Toussaint is actually a really cool pairing

11:09: Shoulda been "American Gangster" Lil Wayne is so fucking high

11:22 Plant & Krauss seems like an odd choice to close out the night. Good but chill performance.

11:25: In Rainbows was robbed tonight. Oh, well, well done Robert and Alison. Good night and good luck, another year of great artists getting nominated and none of them winning.

Langerado 2009: Dunzo

Florida's Langerado festival, scheduled for March 6-8, has been cancelled after weeks of rumors to that effect. The festival, which was to be headlined by Death Cab for Cutie, Snoop Dogg, Modest Mouse and Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, suffered from "sluggish ticket sales" (not to mention a lineup that couldn't come close to 2008 headliners R.E.M., Beastie Boys and Phil Lesh & Friends). The event was to be held in Miami's Bicentennial Park

Christian Bale Remixed

RuPaul's producer (RuPaul has a producer?) has remixed Christian Bale's epic tirade on the set of Terminator 4 into the most badass dance track of the year.

What don't you fucking understand? (Well, the fact that Barbara Streisand shows up, for one)

New Black Kids single to be released, April 7

Jacksonville, FL's Black Kids have been darlings of the blog world since last October's Pitchfork review of their "Wizard of Ahhhs" EP, and with good reason; the four tracks show the most depth and talent of any new group since the Arcade Fire. They are preparing to release their much-anticipated debut album in July, and the first single, "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You," which also appeared on "Wizard of Ahhhs," will be released on April 7. The disc, also available as a 4-track iTunes exclusive, will feature a cover of Sophie B. Hawkins' "Damn I Wish That I Was Your Lover" as the B-side.
